Man dislocates jaw while teaching daughter at home

A MAN in China’s Yuyang city got so frustrated when teaching his daughter about coin denominations that he dislocated his jaw, Sin Chew Daily reported.

A video of the father with a bandaged jaw and muttering to himself garnered the sympathy of many parents. His wife, who took the video, explained that the man had been guiding their daughter about the differences between yuan, jiao and fen (one yuan, 10 cent and one cent).

However, the girl was unable to grasp the concept of varying denominations of the same currency despite repeated attempts by her father to explain it to her.

The frustrated father suddenly found that he could not close his mouth and that his jaw was locked tight. He had to seek treatment at a hospital.

When the video was posted online, many couples sympathised with him, saying that it was not easy being a parent.

“This is so real. It is understandable,” someone wrote.

With more than 200 million students in China having returned to schools after they reopened in August, parents are spending time teaching their children to ensure they do not fall behind in class.

> A man in Thailand drowned after saving his dog from being swept away by river currents, China Press reported.

Kling Srikaew, 61, had gone on a fishing trip in Nakhon Ratchasima city two weeks ago, accompanied by his dog Nova.

Nova stepped too close to the river and was swept away by the currents.

Srikaew immediately jumped into the river and pulled his dog out. However, he was unable to climb up the slippery surface. The dog howled and waited by the river for his return. Divers managed to recover Srikaew’s body three hours later.
