11-year-old drowns in the Kinta River while out playing with friends

The 11 year old boy was playing with two other friends near the Kinta River when he fell inside and drowned.

IPOH: A 11-year-old boy drowned in a river near here during an outing with friends.

Mohd Hakimi Nor Izzudin’s body was found by the members of the public at about 10.30am on Saturday (Sept 18) after the victim’s friends alerted them about the incident.

The spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department said the victim from Pasir Puteh had been playing near the Kinta River with two other friends before he fell into the river and drowned.

"The department personnel received a distress call, and firemen rushed to the site immediately.

"However when we arrived, members of the public had already brought the boy’s body up to the riverbank.

"The firemen performed CPR, but was declared dead by the medical officers," he added.
