Disabled man found safe after being swept away by strong river currents in Penampang

KOTA KINABALU: A disabled man who was swept away by strong river currents in Wednesday’s (Sept 15) flash floods has been found safe.

Chong Chee Sen, 61, was reported to have gone missing at 4.57pm on Wednesday at Kampung Kudou, Penampang.

State Fire and Rescue officers said a search and rescue operation was mounted following the report.

Villagers who were fleeing the flood and helping each other to safety managed to locate the missing man and brought him to safety, Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Mohd Affendy K. Ramin said on Thursday (Sept 16).

The victim underwent a medical examination before being reunited with his family at one of the temporary relief centres in Penampang.
