Zainuddin Abdul Wahab appointed as new Tourism Malaysia DG

PUTRAJAYA: Tourism Malaysia has announced the appointment of Datuk Zainuddin Abdul Wahab as its new director-general beginning Sept 13.

It also said that Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri agreed to the appointment as the current director-general Zulkifly Md Said was set to retire on Sept 13.

Zainuddin was previously a senior director of management at Tourism Malaysia and simultaneously held the portfolio of the deputy director-general of planning.

Having served in the public service for 37 years, Zainuddin was previously the director-general of the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) before being appointed to the roles of the director of production and senior director of strategic planning at Tourism Malaysia.

Through this appointment, Datuk Zainuddin aims to continue efforts in promoting the recovery of the tourism industry which has been badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic alongside driving progress towards the digitalisation of tourism in line with the National Tourism Policy (DPN) 2020-2030.
