Rina Harun: Citizenship application procedure for children born abroad should be equal

PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) is of the view that the procedures and conditions in applying for citizenship of children born abroad by Malaysian women married to foreigners must be the same as children born abroad of Malaysian men with a non-Malaysian spouse.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun said this was in line with the principle of gender equality contained in Article 8 of the Federal Constitution which states that all persons are equal before the law and entitled to equal protection under the law.
