PM absent at ceremony over close contact status


PUTRAJAYA: The Prime Minister did not attend the swearing-in ceremony for ministers and deputy ministers as he is undergoing self-quarantine after coming into contact with a Covid-19 patient.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) started self-quarantine yesterday, and missed the ceremony at Istana Negara.

However, his office did not disclose details on how and when Ismail Sabri had come into contact with the individual who was Covid-19 positive.

The statement also said the Prime Minister will only be participating in the National Day 2021 celebration virtually.

The celebration will be held at Dataran Pahlawan Negara here at the federal administrative capital.
