PETALING JAYA: The newly-appointed members of the Cabinet need to do more to address issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The former prime minister expressed unhappiness over the new line-up, saying three were not many changes compared to the previous cabinet under Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In an audio recording on Friday (Aug 27), he added that those who "did not show any effectiveness... were reappointed".
The Langkawi MP said it appeared that politicking was still going on, claiming that having bipartisan cooperation with Opposition parties was still political.
Dr Mahathir, who is also Pejuang Parti Pejuang Tanah Air chairman, claimed there was insufficient focus on those suffering economically and affected by the pandemic.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced his Cabinet line-up on Friday.
The new line-up still has four senior ministers, but there is no deputy prime minister.
The senior ministers are Datuk Seri Azmin Ali (International Trade and Industry), Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (Defence), Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof (Works) and Datuk Seri Radzi Jidin (Education).
