KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional leaders are having a meeting on Sunday (Aug 22), believed to be on the latest political developments following the swearing-in of the ninth Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Several of the coalition's top leaders were spotted entering the Perikatan office here as early as 10am Sunday.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Perikatan youth chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin were among those spotted entering the building.

On Saturday (Aug 21) night, the Bersatu supreme council gathered at a hotel in the city to discuss the way forward after Ismail Sabri's appointment.

The meeting, chaired by former prime minister and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, began at about 8.30pm.

Bersatu, the biggest bloc in Perikatan with 31 MPs, is said to have been given complete say over who becomes the next deputy prime minister after they threw their full support behind Ismail Sabri, with the party even giving up the prime minister's post to Umno, Ismail Sabri's party.
