Kelantan legislative assembly to sit as scheduled

KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan State Legislative Assembly meeting will go ahead as scheduled from Aug 23-25, said state assembly Speaker Datuk Abdullah Ya’kub.

The position of the state government was not affected by the resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister and the Perikatan Nasional Cabinet, he added.

Abdullah said the meeting would take place with stricter standard operating procedures to curb the spread of Covid-19 and all the assemblymen must undergo screenings for the virus.

“This is to ensure that none of those involved in the sitting is ‘carrying’ Covid-19.

“We will also not allow those with Covid-19 symptoms to be present at the state assembly,” he said.

The three-day meeting will be conducted physically at the Kota Darulnaim Complex.

The last time the state assembly convened was on April 13 last year for 45 minutes due to the implementation of the movement control order. — Bernama
