PETALING JAYA: Kelantan The Real Warriors wasted no time strengthening their squad after their transfer ban was lifted, welcoming two new players into the fold.
Following confirmation from the Malaysian Football League (MFL) on Sunday that Kelantan’s transfer ban had been lifted, the club brought in French import Enzo Celestine and Indonesian midfielder Yohanes Kandaimu to Kota Baru.
Kelantan had previously been barred from registering new players due to salary arrears for the current Super League season, with sanctions imposed by the Football Association of Malaysia, FIFA, and MFL.
The suspension was lifted after the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) informed MFL that a settlement agreement had been reached between the club and 23 of their players.
Celestine is set to make his debut in the MFL Challenge Cup quarter-finals today against Immigration.
The 28-year-old Celestine, standing at 1.90m tall, has played on Asian soil, having joined Indonesian clubs Persipura Jayapura, Persibo Bojonegoro, and most recently Persikad Depok before arriving in Kelantan.
“Celestine has also played for several French clubs and the Romanian Premier League side Arges Pitesti,” the club said.
“He shows consistency and sharpness in front of goal and is expected to be the main striker.”
Meanwhile, 30-year-old centreback Yohanes also has extensive playing experience in Indonesia, with stints in Persita Tangerang, Persebaya Surabaya, and Persiku Kudus.
Kelantan are currently 10th in the Super League with 15 points.
