Children becoming more at risk

More to gain: Although there are possible side effects from vaccinating children, medical experts believe the benefits still outweigh the risks.

KUALA LUMPUR: More children are being hospitalised for Covid-19 now compared to any other time of the ongoing pandemic, according to doctors, as the highly contagious Delta variant becomes more dominant in Malaysia.

More children have been coming in the last two months with Covid-19 symptoms, necessitating the expansion from one ward for Covid-19 child patients to a whole floor in the children’s building at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), said consultant paediatric cardiologist Assoc Prof Dr Norazah Zahari.
