20-year-old held over murder of security guard


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of a security guard in an apartment unit here.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said that based on initial investigations, the guard, a Malaysian aged 28, was believed to have been murdered.

“There were bruises on his wrists and forehead,” he said in a statement.

He said they were alerted to the case in Lorong Ceylon at around 4.15am yesterday.

Further investigation revealed that the unit was rented under the name of the victim’s friend.

“We arrested a 20-year-old suspect to assist us in our investigations,” said ACP Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal, adding that the motive for the murder is yet to be established.

The body has been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for post-mortem.

The case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
