Covid-19: 7,654 new cases bring total to 792,693


PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 7,654 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (July 6), the Health Ministry announced.

The country’s cumulative total of Covid-19 cases is now at 792,693.

Of the 7,654 new infections, 11 are imported cases.

In the same 24-hour span, 4,797 patients were discharged from treatment.

The number of people who have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia is 714,815 - or 90.17% out of the total infections.



There were 103 fatalities, which takes the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 5,677.

Currently, 943 patients are being treated at intensive care units (ICU), with 450 requiring ventilator support.

Active cases have gone up to 72,201.

Selangor has the highest number of infections, with the state recording 3,260 new cases.

This is followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,550 cases, Negri Sembilan (698), Kedah (337), Johor (313), Sarawak (286), Melaka (230), Sabah (225), Penang (185), Pahang (180), Kelantan (118), Perak (94), Labuan (82), Terengganu (61), Putrajaya (33) and Perlis (two).
