Mentari Court residents who tested negative to get vaccinated

PETALING JAYA: All individuals who tested negative for Covid-19 at Mentari Court, which has been placed under the enhanced movement control order, will be vaccinated starting Sunday.

Petaling district officer Datuk Johary Anuar said this would be the first time vaccines would be given in an area under enhanced MCO in Selangor, as the aim was to curb the spread of the virus effectively.

“Mentari Court has more than 17,000 residents in 3,469 units of houses and so far we have detected 500 positive cases in the area.

“The vaccines will be administered at Mentari Court itself. All residents, including foreigners, will be given vaccines,” he said outside the apartment complex yesterday.

Johary added that Mentari Court would be the pioneer project for vaccine dispensing at an enhanced MCO area.

The enhanced MCO in the area began at 12.01am yesterday.

He also said food aid would be distributed to all residents continuously from the first day of the enhanced MCO.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid denied that foreign workers were attempting to flee the area prior to the start of the enhanced MCO.

“Residents were allowed to enter and exit Mentari Court prior to the enforcement of the order.”

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin also said police and the Armed Forces would record the details of the 17,000 residents to prevent any illegal entry or exit.
