Covid-19: PM to announce ‘big’ aid package soon, says KJ

PETALING JAYA: A “big” Covid-19 aid package will be announced soon by the Prime Minister, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

"I do not want to pre-empt the details as the Prime Minister will be making the announcement," the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) coordinating minister said during an engagement session at the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia’s (NCCIM) 45th annual general meeting conducted virtually on Thursday (June 24).

He said this when asked by Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia honorary president Tan Sri William Cheng on efforts to assist businesses during the economic turmoil due to the ongoing pandemic.

On May 31, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced a RM40bil aid package for the people to face the lockdown.

The government had also launched several economic stimulus packages worth RM340bil previously.
