Car chase ends with three suspects arrested after crashing car into drain

KUALA LUMPUR: A car chase broke out along Jalan Cheras on Tuesday (June 15) after a car refused orders by the police to stop.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar, in a statement Wednesday (June 16), said that the incident started after a crime prevention team spotted a suspicious car along Jalan Cheras on Tuesday.

"When the car was ordered to stop, it sped off. Backup was called in and three units were dispatched to chase down the suspects.

"The driver lost control of the car, crashing in a drain near Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat and three suspects were arrested, with the help of members of the public," he said.

Checks on all three suspects, two men and a woman, showed they had criminal records, with multiple criminal and drug-related offences.

All three also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

"They will be remanded to assist investigations. The police advise everyone to cooperate whenever we conduct inspections or investigations," ACP Idzam said.
