Johor MB: 10% rebate on quit rent to continue until September

JOHOR BARU: Property owners in Johor will continue to enjoy a 10% rebate on their quit rent until September this year.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad (pic) said that for those who failed to pay their quit rent for this year, the late payment penalty, which was supposed to have started on June 1, has been extended by another four months.

“This means after Oct 1, property owners will be imposed a penalty of 20% or the minimum fine of RM10,” he said, adding that with the extension, the state government hoped that all property owners would have ample time to pay up their quit rent.

Hasni also commended the efforts and commitment of property owners who have paid up their quit rent within the time frame set.

“We understand the issues raised by the people with regards to those who have been affected by the lockdown which has been implemented since June 1,” he said, adding that the state government planned to come up with more initiatives to help those affected in the state.
