Motorcyclist injured, car damaged after tree uprooted in front of Muzium Negara

KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist was injured and a car was damaged when a huge tree uprooted and fell in front of Muzium Negara on Thursday evening (May 27).

The fallen tree also blocked the entire three lanes heading towards the city centre. The road was also closed to traffic from the Travers police station.

A statement from the Fire and Rescue Department said that the motorcyclist suffered light injuries and had been sent to hospital for treatment.

“The driver of the car was able to get out of the vehicle and did not sustain any injuries.”

It is understood that Kuala Lumpur City Hall and the Fire and Rescue Department personnel are at the scene, and tree removal works are currently underway.

Videos and photos show the fallen tree covering the road, causing heavy traffic in the area.

Motorists are urged to find alternative routes.
