Woman assaulted in parking lot, manages to scare off attacker

PETALING JAYA: A woman was assaulted by a man who tried to take off her clothes in the parking lot of a commercial building at Kota Damansara here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the incident occurred at around 1pm on Monday (May 24).

"A 21-year-old woman was getting into her car when she was shoved from behind and fell inside the vehicle.

"The suspect then pinned the woman down, molested her and attempted to take off her clothes," he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 26).

He said the victim struggled to break free and screamed for help.

"The suspect then punched her face several times.

"She managed to sound her car horn and the suspect fled the scene," he said, adding that the victim sustained bruises and swelling on her face.

He said a photo-fit of the suspect was made based on the victim's description.

"We are looking for either a Malay or Sabahan man in his 20s, at least 165cm tall.

"He is skinny, his right arm is full of tattoos, he has short black hair and a thick mouth," he said, adding that the case was being investigated for outraging the modesty of a person and causing hurt.

Those with information on the case should contact Insp Chew Yong Hoa at 014-3929 448 or the Selangor police hotline at 03-2052 9999.
