Man found dead in Johor river four days after going missing

JOHOR BARU: The body of a 56-year-old man who went missing while hunting for crabs has been found four days later in Kampung Melayu Arang Dapur here.

The victim, Zulkifli Amin, was said to have left his home on Friday (May 21) afternoon for a nearby mangrove area.

Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Khairi Zainuddin said the man's body was found in Sungai Senapang at 9.40am on Tuesday (May 25).

He said they first received an emergency report at 5.37pm on May 23 (Sunday) and immediately launched a search and rescue operation.

"We used a drone to scour the vicinity of the mangrove area and river and also deployed divers.

"His body was found caught in mangrove tree roots on Tuesday and was brought to shore via the Cekur Manis jetty in Gelang Patah," he said, adding that the body was handed over to the police for subsequent action.
