Covid-19: Record high of 6,075 new cases

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has recorded 6,075 new Covid-19 cases, its highest daily figure since the pandemic began.

In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor recorded 2,251 new cases, which is the highest of all states.

This is followed by Johor with 699 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 660 cases, Kedah with 445 cases and Kelantan with 441 cases.

In the same 24-hour span, there are 46 more deaths to Covid-19.

This takes the country’s death toll to 2,040.

Another 3,516 patients have been discharged from treatment.

The country’s total recoveries is now 436,116, which is a 89.8% recovery rate.

There are 47,340 active cases nationwide.

The number of people in intensive care units is now 559.

A total of 304 patients require ventilation support.
