Johor Ruler: Follow SOP even after vaccination

JOHOR BARU: The public, whether vaccinated or not, must follow the standard operating procedure in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, says Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar (pic).The Johor Ruler noted the country is now at a critical juncture where the number of cases showed no sign of slowing and several states, including Johor, have now become high-risk states.

“The rakyat must not ignore the SOP even when they have been vaccinated against the virus.

“Please remember to take care of yourselves and each other, because many are taking the SOP lightly and behaving as though the pandemic is already over.

“This dangerous attitude will only burden our healthcare facilities and if it continues, the prospect will be very grim, ” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Sultan Ibrahim also urged enforcement agencies to come down hard and justly against those who do not adhere to the SOP.

“As well-managed as our healthcare system may be, everything has a limit and breaching it will have unthinkable consequences.

“I hope enforcement agencies will come down hard and justly against those flouting SOP laws.

“We cannot allow the situation to get out of control, like the dire situation in India now, ” he said.

He added that he hopes the state government would make wise decisions and act in the best interests of the rakyat.

“I also urge all Johoreans to register for vaccination.

“Trust our medical experts, and don’t believe rumours.

“If a strict movement control order is indeed necessary to save lives, let it be the last one and ensure everyone does their part to make it work.

“Sacrifices must be made for the greater good of all.

“It is better to be safe than sorry, ” he said.
