Negri MB says will leave it to PKR leadership about contesting parliamentary seat

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar and three-term Sikamat assemblyman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic) will contest a parliamentary seat in the coming general election, if instructed by PKR.

The state PKR chief said he was in no position to question any decision made by the party leadership.

“It is up to the boss (PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim). I will do as told, ” he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri.

He was asked to comment on talk that he may be asked to defend Sikamat, as well as contest the Port Dickson parliamentary seat currently held by Anwar.

Aminuddin said had no knowledge of this, but would prefer to contest only one seat.

“One seat is enough. Let’s give others a chance to contest as well, ” he said.

Asked about talk on seat distribution between state Pakatan Harapan allies, Aminuddin said this was almost done.

“We are only finalising one or two more seats. The rest have been finalised, ” he said.

In the 2018 general election, PKR contested the most number of state seats with 12, followed by DAP (11), Parti Amanah Negara (seven) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (six).

DAP won all the seats it contested, while PKR won six and Amanah three. Bersatu did not win any.

On Tuesday (April 20), Anwar said he felt “comfortable” in Port Dickson and was also prepared to defend the seat.

However, he said the final decision on this would be decided by the party leadership.

Last month, Anwar had said he had the option to pick from any of the 15 seats offered to him by PKR.
