Nine-year-old girl found hung by family after spat


KULAI: A nine-year-old girl was found hung with sarong at her house here on Thursday (April 15).

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said police received a call at about 3.30pm on Thursday of a girl found unconscious at her house.

“Following the information, the police went to her house and found that her body had been removed from the original place where it was discovered by her family.

“She was believed to have hung herself with a sarong, ” he said in a statement here on Friday (April 16).

The girl was confirmed dead by the state Health Department at about 4.45pm and her body sent to the Hospital Sultanah Aminah for a postmortem.

"Results of the postmortem found no physical injuries on her. Medical officers confirmed that her cause of death was by hanging.

“The motive is believed to be due to family misunderstanding, ” he said, adding that the case had been classified as sudden death.
