PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 17 persons for violating standard operating procedures (SOP), the lowest number of arrests to date.
Only two types of offences were recorded, namely activities at entertainment centres and also not using face masks.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the task force monitoring SOP compliance carried out 66,300 checks on Monday (March 29), including at restaurants, supermarkets, banks, wet markets, transport terminals, factories and places of worship.
“On Ops Benteng, enforcement authorities nabbed three illegal immigrants on Monday.
“Authorities also sighted the presence of 52 vessels in Malaysian waters, ’’ he said on Tuesday (March 30).
Ismail Sabri said the low number of arrests was encouraging and showed a high level of compliance among the people.
