PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has received his second Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine shot at the Precinct 18 Putrajaya Health Clinic here.
The prime minister, whose vaccination process was aired live on national television, pleaded to the Malaysian public to register for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme as soon as possible.
"Some 5.6 million people have already registered for the programme, and I'm urging those who have not to do so quickly.
"Those who have registered, wait for your turn and you will be informed.
"The faster we are vaccinated, the sooner we can be protected from Covid-19.
"And we will be able to return to our normal lives once the pandemic is over," said Muhyiddin, speaking briefly to the press after his vaccination.
The prime minister said he did not feel any pain or side effects 30 minutes after receiving his vaccine shot.
"Don't worry, it does not hurt. For those who are afraid of needles, it will be fine – I did not feel anything and my condition has been good," said Muhyiddin.
He also showed a smart card which will be given to every person who has completed their vaccination regimen.
"With this smart card, one can use it to show to, perhaps, a security guard, to prove that they have been vaccinated. Just scan the card and it will show," he said.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also got his second vaccine shot minutes after the Muhyiddin.
They both then posed for photos carrying placards that read: "I've taken two doses".
Muhyiddin and Dr Noor Hisham were the first two people in Malaysia to be vaccinated for Covid-19 on Feb 24.
The Comirnaty vaccine, developed by American and German firms Pfizer and BioNTech, has to be administered in two parts, with at least a 21-day interval between the shots.
