PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet and the National Security Council special meeting will be presented with the details of offences and the amount to be paid by offenders under the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“We are aware that the public is still confused about the issue of the RM10,000 compound despite the matter being explained time and again by the Inspector-General of Police as well as myself," said the Senior Minister on Tuesday (March 16).
He added that because of this, details would be given on the offences and the amount to be paid.
Ismail Sabri said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has had a meeting with the technical committee as well as with the Health Ministry on the matter on Tuesday evening.
He said that while the amount to be paid for a specific offence would be stated, the district Health Office could still accept appeals from the public.
“They have the authority to use their discretion and they can use their good judgement to determine if a violator should be given a reduction of the compound, ” he said.
On March 15, Takiyuddin said the government would spell out the offences subjected to the RM10,000 compound to clear any confusion on its implementation.
"We will maintain the Ordinance on the RM10,000 compound for individuals and RM50,000 for companies but the government will resolve the issue of its implementation, including the issuance of summonses to violators, ” he had said.
