PUTRAJAYA: The enhanced movement control order will be enforced in Pulau Tioman in Rompin, Pahang beginning March 16 after Covid-19 positive cases were recorded in the locality.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that as of March 14, health authorities had carried out 48 screenings of which the results of 16 came back positive.
“The Health Ministry has also confirmed that there is a spike in the number of cases reported with high infectivity rate.
“Following their advice, the government has agreed to place Pulau Tioman under enhanced MCO for 14 days until March 29,” he said on Monday (March 15).
Ismail Sabri said the lockdown will enable health authorities to carry out more screenings on the island’s residents and to control their movement to prevent more infection within the community.
