KUALA LUMPUR: The enhanced movement control order (MCO) at the Batu Gajah Correctional Centre and Staff Quarters at Kinta Perak will end on Saturday (March 13).
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Health Ministry conducted 774 screenings there and 457 Covid-19 cases were detected.
"The ministry has confirmed there was a decrease in cases, the cluster was under control, and all positive cases and close contacts have been isolated.
"After conducting a risk assessment with a number of agencies under the MCO Technical Committee and upon the advice of the ministry, the government has agreed to end the enhanced MCO there as scheduled on Saturday," he said on Friday (March 12).
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said 330 compounds were issued on Thursday (March 11) to standard operating procedure (SOP) violators while 37 others were remanded, with two released on bail.
"The highest violation was for entertainment outlet activities (155), followed by failing to provide customer entry logs and equipment (77).
"We also recorded 39 offences for failing to wear face masks, 34 for no physical distancing, 29 for interstate and inter-district travel without permission, 20 for operating a business beyond the permitted time or without permission, and 15 for other offences," he said.
Ismail Sabri added that 35 illegal immigrants were arrested and five vehicles seized under Ops Benteng on Thursday.
"Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Malaysian Border Control Agency set up 264 roadblocks yesterday," he said.
