Ismail Sabri: 400 nabbed for MCO violations on Monday (March 1)


PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 400 individuals for violating standard operating procedures on movement control order.

Of those arrested, 352 were issued with compounds and 48 were remanded.

Among offences committed by the violators on Monday (March 1) were not social distancing, not wearing face masks in public places, failure to register customers’ detail and activities at entertainment centres.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the task force monitoring SOP compliance carried out 71,594 checks including supermarkets, factories, restaurants, banks and transport terminals and government offices.

On Ops Benteng, enforcement authorities arrested eight illegal immigrants and seized five land vehicles.

“Authorities had also sighted the presence of 74 vessels in Malaysian waters, ” he said on Tuesday (March 2).

He said cumulatively as of Feb 28, authorities had arrested 12,121 illegal immigrants and 922 tekongs.
