PM urges all to get vaccinated to break Covid-19 chain

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who just received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, has called on Malaysians and those who reside in the country to get themselves vaccinated in order to break the chain of infection.

The Prime Minister urged the public to be confident of the vaccination programme, which is the government’s effort to put a stop to the pandemic in the country.

“I am confident that the vaccine is safe and effective.

“Once again, I call on everyone to support this effort so that Malaysia will be free of the Covid-19 pandemic within a short period of time, ” he said on Wednesday (Feb 24).

Muhyiddin said this in a short address to the media after undergoing vaccination at the Precinct 11 health clinic. He is the first person in the country to be vaccinated.

Sharing his experience, the Prime Minister said that the injection felt like “a normal injection".

“I didn’t feel anything. I had asked (the nurse) to wait but the next thing I knew it was over. So, don’t worry, come forward (and get vaccinated), ” he said.

He reiterated the government’s decision that vaccination will be free for all in Malaysia, including foreigners and encouraged the public to register via MySejahtera for their turn to be vaccinated.

Aside from the Prime Minister, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and four other staff members of the Health Ministry received the vaccine.
