PETALING JAYA: The 10km radius travel limit within the same district has been lifted, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister said this is regardless whether the states are under the movement control order (MCO), the conditional MCO, or the recovery MCO.
"This is because more activities and businesses have resumed operations such as restaurants and fishing ponds so the 10km restriction is no longer relevant," he said.
Previously under the MCO, the government announced a travel limit of 10km radius from an individual's home.
However, inter-district and interstate travel restrictions are still in place, said Ismail Sabri at a press conference on Tuesday (Feb 16).
Asked why this was not allowed, Ismail Sabri said that following a relaxation of rules in December, there was an increase in cases resulting from inter-district and interstate travel.
He added that areas under the MCO still have a restriction of two people in a car while the other states have no restrictions on the number of people in a vehicle, based on its capacity.
The MCO will be extended in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Penang from Feb 19 to March 4.
All the other states, Putrajaya and Labuan with the exception of Perlis have been placed under the conditional MCO from Feb 19 to March 4.
Perlis will be placed under the recovery MCO also from Feb 19 to March 4.Sidang Khas hari ini bersetuju bahawa syarat pergerakan dalam radius 10 kilometer DIBATALKAN berkuatkuasa hari ini, 16 Februari 2021.
