PETALING JAYA: The reimposition of the cabotage policy on submarine cable repair work within Malaysian waters is aimed at strengthening the capacity and capability of local players for maintenance of this critical national infrastructure, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).

The Transport Minister said a "free-for-all" concept, where anyone is allowed to repair submarine cables anywhere in the world without restriction, is a fallacy.
