PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested 826 people for various violations of the movement control order, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Of the number, the Senior Minister said 776 were slapped with compounds while 50 were remanded.
Among the offences were the failure to wear face masks (128), no social distancing (170), interstate travel without permission (158), leaving their homes without reasonable excuse (69), operating beyond permitted time (53) and others (248).
The task force monitoring SOP compliance, he said, also carried out 61,421 checks on Sunday (Jan 31).
He said 5,203 restaurants, 3,565 supermarkets, 3,347 banks, 3,015 government offices, 1,897 stalls and 1,437 factories were checked during the operations.
A total of 537 roadblocks were also set up nationwide, which saw the arrest of 20 undocumented migrants under Ops Benteng, he added.
Ismail Sabri said 1,210 individuals had also returned to the country and were currently under quarantine at government facilities.
Since April 24 last year, 114,306 individuals who returned to the country had undergone quarantine at 77 hotels and 13 training institutes.
A total of 105,799 individuals were allowed to return home after undergoing mandatory quarantine while 477 were sent to hospital for treatment.
Ismail Sabri said the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) had also carried out checks at nine construction sites, of which eight were in compliance with SOP while one had breached regulations.
CIDB, he added, had carried out a total of 14,853 checks on 8,411 construction sites since April last year.
The government also announced the extension of the MCO to Feb 4 for Selangor, Melaka, Penang, Johor, Sabah, Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
The MCO was implemented on Jan 13 but was extended due to a spike in positive cases over the past two weeks.
