Ismail Sabri: Use of gloves not part of SOP

PUTRAJAYA: The use of gloves by supermarket workers is not part of the standard operating procedure (SOP), says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said this after a video went viral of policemen conducting enforcement taking action against a supermarket worker for not wearing gloves.

"I immediately called up the police when finding out about the incident because wearing gloves is not part of the SOP. The National Security Council has never made it an SOP.

"Police also acknowledged that there was confusion and would issue a reminder to its personnel on the matter," he said on Thursday (Jan 21).

Ismail Sabri thanked the police for their quick response to rectify the matter, adding that while it was important for the public to follow the SOP, the authorities should be clear on the protocols that needed to be adhered to.
