PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 577 individuals for various violations of standard operating procedures, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said of the number, 545 were slapped with compounds and 32 individuals were remanded.
Among offences committed were failure to wear face masks (190), no social distancing (112), interstate travel without permission (81), and failure to record customers' detail (75).
The task force monitoring SOP compliance carried out 31,155 checks on Wednesday (Jan 20).
On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said that 12 illegal immigrants were arrested during the nationwide operations.
“Authorities had also detected the presence of 115 boats close to Malaysian waters during surveillance activities, ” he said on Thursday (Jan 21).
Ismail Sabri also said that on Wednesday, 796 individuals had returned to the country and was sent for quarantine at government facilities
Since April 24 last year, 108,343 individuals who returned to the country were sent to various facilities to observe mandatory quarantine.
He also reported that authorities carried out checks on 34 constriction sites on Wednesday, of which three were issued warning for not following SOP.
