Tok Pa thanks hospital staff for their dedication on his 11th day in hospital

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (pic) has been in the hospital for 11 days receiving treatment for Covid-19 and is showing signs of recovery.

In a Facebook post, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department expressed his gratitude to doctors and nurses of Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Baru, Kelantan, for their services.

"It is my 11th day in Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II. Thank you to doctors, nurses and staff for tirelessly looking after our health.

"My condition has improved, but the doctors are not allowing me to leave because I have not completed some lung treatment.

"My oxygen level is OK, blood pressure is OK, blood level is OK, food is OK, although my appetite is still not 100%," said the Jeli MP, affectionately known as Tok Pa.

On Jan 10, Mustapa's office confirmed that the 70-year-old had tested positive for Covid-19.

Prior to that, Mustapa had attended a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia meeting, where Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and other Cabinet ministers were present.

Mustapa called on the Malaysian public to continue adhering to Covid-19 prevention measures.

"Covid-19 continues to be a threat. Our hospitals are getting overwhelmed. Take care of yourselves and your families.

"The people must adhere to the SOPs (standard operating procedures) 100%. Enforcers should show no compromise.

"Heed the instructions of (Senior Minister) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and (Health director-general) Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah seriously," he said.

The Bersatu supreme council member called on politicians from both sides to reduce politicking.

"Obey the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decree to save all our lives," said Mustapa.

Mustapa is one of the five Cabinet ministers to have tested positive for the Covid-19. The others are Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri who tested positive on Oct 5, last year; Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun; Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique.
