Ismail Sabri: 495 arrested nationwide for various MCO violations

PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 495 people on Thursday (Jan 14) for violating various standard operating procedures under the movement control order, says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Among the offences allegedly committed were failure to wear masks at crowded public places, not observing physical social distancing and failure to register details of customers.

On Jan 14, the task force monitoring SOP compliance carried out 45,172 checks.

"On Ops Benteng, 42 illegal immigrants were arrested and a boat as well as three land vehicles were seized," he said on Friday (Jan 15).

Ismail Sabri also said 945 individuals returned to Malaysia via various entry points on Thursday (Jan 14).

Since July 24,104,284 individuals have returned to the country and subsequently sent to government-designated quarantine centres.
