SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan hopes to attract RM10bil in investments this year despite the Covid-19 outbreak, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic).
"We will form strategic partnerships with the private sector to get more investors to Negri Sembilan.
We also hope to attract more high technology investments to stimulate growth and create more job opportunities for locals," he said.
Speaking at a monthly assembly with state employees at Wisma Negri on Monday (Jan 11) that was carried live on social media due to the pandemic, Aminuddin expressed hope that all state authorities, government agencies and local councils will double their efforts to help his administration achieve the RM10bil target, which is double the RM5bil it received in 2020.
The state had received RM3.68bil in investments in 2019 and RM2.86bil in the previous year.
He also commended the state's public sector employees who had been working hard to help his administration in revenue collection.
The state managed to collect RM452.9mil in revenue of the RM457mil targeted for 2020 despite the problems caused by the Covid-19 outbreak.
"This is 99.1% of what we had targeted to earn for the year," he said, adding that 92% of funds allocated for the year have also been spent.
He expressed hope that department heads would ensure the funds are spent accordingly to promote growth.
"It is my hope that the state civil servants will continue to play their part in moving towards digitalisation, which includes being able to receive revenue electronically so we can continue with efforts to promote growth, ” said Aminuddin
"This is also to allow the people to use the electronic means to submit applications and seek aid, which will only make our jobs easier," he added, also saying that his administration had introduced the n9.digital platform to facilitate this.
