231 detained over MCO violations, says Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 231 individuals for breaching various MCO violations, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This includes failure to register customers (80), not wearing face masks in crowded public places (71), entertainment outlet activities (63) and no physical distancing (13), among others.

He said that the task force monitoring SOP compliance on Tuesday (Dec 29) had made 44,822 checks including at supermarkets, restaurants, transport terminals, factories, banks and government officers.

“On Ops Benteng, authorities arrested 29 undocumented migrants and seized 10 land vehicles. A total of 110 roadblocks were also set up for the purpose of detecting undocumented migrants,” he said on Wednesday (Dec 30).

Ismail Sabri said that since March 30, authorities under the supervision of the Housing and Local Government Ministry had carried out 13,154 sanitisation exercises.

On Tuesday, 23 such operations were carried out in eight states as well as in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

On mandatory quarantine, the Senior Minister said that since July 24, there were 94,125 individuals who had returned to Malaysia and underwent quarantine at government-designated stations.

Currently, there are 6,747 people who are undergoing the process of quarantine.

The individuals had returned from 36 countries, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Spain, China, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, the United States, New Zealand, Australia and France.
