Tun Rahah's passing: Royals, politicians convey condolences (updated)


PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdulllah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, as well as politicians from across the political divide, have expressed their condolences to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's family over the passing of his mother, Tun Rahah Mohd Noah.

"Their Majesties both expressed their hope that the entire family of the late Tun Rahah be patient and remain steadfast in this season of sadness.

"Their Majesties pray that the soul of Allahyarhamah be blessed by Allah SWT and be placed amongst the righteous," said the Istana Negara Facebook page on Friday (Dec 18).

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar also expressed his condolences to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's family over the passing of his mother, Tun Rahah Mohd Noah.

"My family and I would like to express our condolences to Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and his whole family for the passing of his mother, Tun Rahah Mohd Noah.

"We have lost a jewel from Johor who has witnessed important historical events in the development of the country.

"May the soul of Allahyarhamah be blessed and be placed amongst the righteous," he said in his Facebook page Friday (Dec 18).

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also conveyed his condolences to Najib, saying that his mother had contributed a lot to the development of the nation.

"During her life, Tun Rahah always reminded women to be involved actively in various activities for women, as well as by contributing and serving towards the development of the country.

"The departure of Tun Rahah is felt by all Malaysians," he said on his Facebook page on Friday (Dec 18).

Tun Rahah died at the age of 87.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said he was sad to hear of the passing of Tun Rahah.

"My condolences to the family of Allahyarhamah. May she be placed amongst the righteous," he tweeted.

MIC information secretary Subash Chandrabose also offered his sympathies.

"Condolences to Najib and his family on the passing of their beloved mother, Tun Rahah. We hope Najib and his family remain strong to weather these tough times," he tweeted.

Deputy speaker Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said also prayed for everyone in the family to be given strength.

Meanwhile, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his condolences as well.

"Condolences to Najib and his family. I am also saddened and pray that her soul be blessed," he tweeted.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari too extended his sympathies.

"Condolences to Najib and his family on the passing of their mother, Tun Rahah. May the soul of Allahyarhamah be showered with blessings and placed in heaven with full blessings," he said.

PKR strategic communications director Fahmi Fadzil said in his tweet: "May Allahyarhamah be forgiven of all sins and be placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah."

Former human resources minister M. Kulasegaran joined in tweeting his condolences.

"My deepest condolences to Najib and the entire family over the passing of your beloved mother, Tun Rahah.

"I hope the cherished memories can ease the pain of your loss," he said.

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming also conveyed his sympathies on the passing of Tun Rahah.
