SINGAPORE, Dec 19 (Bernama): Tun Rahah Mohamed Noah was a source of strength, courage and inspiration for her family and for all Malaysians, said Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Saturday.
"She stood resolutely beside her husband, (the late) Tun (Abdul) Razak (Hussein), when he led Malaysia at a critical period in its history," said Lee in his latest update on his Facebook today.
"She will be remembered for her devotion to country and family," he wrote further in his posting in which he appended a photo of Rahah.
Rahah, 87, the widow of Malaysia's second prime minister Abdul Razak, died at the Prince Court Medical Centre here on Friday (Dec 18) afternoon.
Rahah will be buried beside the grave of her sister Tun Suhailah Mohamed Noah, the mother of Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, at Masjid Negara's Heroes Mausoleum.
In the beginning of the posting, Lee wrote that he was "deeply saddened" to hear of the passing of Rahah, who is also the mother of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"Our thoughts are with her family and the people of Malaysia during this time of mourning," wrote Lee before ending the posting with his initials LHL.

Meanwhile, The Straits Times, reported that there were 17 new coronavirus cases confirmed at noon on Saturday (Dec 19), all of which were imported.
The imported cases were placed on stay-home notices on arrival in Singapore, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
There were no new community cases and none from worker dormitories.
Saturday's cases take Singapore's Covid-19 total to 58,403.
On Friday (Dec 18), nine new imported coronavirus cases were confirmed.
There were no new community cases and none from workers' dormitories.
The MOH also said all the imported cases had been placed on stay-home notices or were isolated upon arrival in Singapore, and were tested during that period.
With 13 cases discharged on Friday (Dec 18), 58,250 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
The ministry added that the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with no new cases in the past week.
A total of 36 patients remained in hospital, with none in intensive care, and 56 patients were still recuperating in community facilities.
Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive had died of other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 74.2 million people. More than 1.6 million people have died.
