KL, Sabah and most of Selangor stay under CMCO

PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and most of Selangor will remain under the conditional movement control order (MCO) until Dec 20, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In his televised briefing yesterday, he said the National Security Council had determined that the conditional MCO would be lifted for several states but not for others.

The conditional MCO will be extended until Dec 20 in Selangor (except the Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor districts), Sabah and all of Kuala Lumpur.

For Putrajaya and Labuan, the conditional MCO ends today and these areas will move on to the recovery MCO phase.

In Kedah, Kulim will be placed under the conditional MCO from tomorrow until Dec 20.

All of Penang will go back to recovery MCO except for the Barat Daya and Timur Laut sub-districts, which will still be under the conditional MCO until Dec 20.

In the meantime, an enhanced MCO will be in place at the Jalan Paya Terubong and Desa Bistari flats from Dec 7 to 20.

The Teja and Changkat Jong sub-districts in Perak will have their conditional MCO extended to Dec 20, while the rest of the state will go back to the recovery MCO as scheduled.

The enhanced MCO in Zones B and C in Taman Meru 2C, Ipoh, which was in force since Nov 20, ended yesterday, earlier than the previously announced date of Dec 10.

However, the enhanced MCO will be in force at the Langkap Immigration depot and quarters in Hilir Perak until Dec 19 due to an increase in infections among detainees.

All of Kelantan will resume the recovery MCO except the districts of Kota Baru, Machang, Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas.

The enhanced MCO will also be enacted at Madrasah Ad-Diniah Al-Falahiah in Kampung Dalam Huma, Pasir Puteh, until Dec 20.

In Negri Sembilan, only Seremban and Port Dickson will continue to be under the conditional MCO until Dec 20.

Meanwhile in Johor, the conditional MCO will be extended in Kota Tinggi, while the Johor Baru, Batu Pahat and Kulai districts will be placed under the conditional MCO starting tomorrow until Dec 20.

Ismail Sabri said the decision was made after risk analyses were conducted.

“The best vaccine for now is following the new normal. Without the change in behaviour by the public and complying with the standard operating procedures, we will not succeed, ” he said.

Selangor and Kuala Lumpur have been under the conditional MCO since Oct 14, while Sabah and Labuan have been placed under a similar order since Oct 13 and Oct 17, respectively.

Perak, Penang and Negri Sembilan’s conditional MCO was from Nov 9, while Kelantan’s was enforced on Nov 21.
