ISKANDAR PUTERI: The state government has approved the applications of 41,565 individuals who applied for its Ihsan Johor cash handout programme that was launched in March to help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the state government received 234,105 applications between April and June this year and about 82.25% of them have been rejected.
“Among reasons for the rejections are having an income that surpassed the income eligibility for the aid, the person applying is under 18-years-old, the applicant has a company, duplication in the application and the identity card number does not exist.
“From the 41,565 applications that have been approved, 38,334 received RM250 in cash assistance each while 3,231 received RM500 each, ” he said during the state assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail here.
He added that for recipients who do not have a bank account, the aid was given in cash through the state district office since June.
“From the approved applications, 7,335 people received the aid in cash through the district office while the rest received the payment through their bank accounts, ” he said.
The Mentri Besar was responding to questions about the Ihsan Johor cash handout programme from Tan Chen Choon (PH-Jementah), Liow Cai Tung (PH-Johor Jaya), Gan Peck Cheng (PH-Penggaram), Raven Kumar (BN-Tenggaroh) and Abd Taib Abu Bakar (BN-Machap).
