Hisham replaces Ku Nan as BN treasurer-general

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pic) has been appointed Barisan Nasional treasurer-general, replacing Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

According to Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the decision was made after discussions with party leaders in the coalition.

“A minor reshuffle has taken place in Barisan after taking into account several aspects to strengthen Barisan’s structural organisation.

“With this, I appoint Hishammuddin as the new Barisan treasurer-general. Tengku Adnan remains and will carry out his duties as the Umno treasurer, ” he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 23).

Zahid also thanked Tengku Adnan on behalf of Barisan for his sacrifice, while congratulating Hishammuddin over the new appointment.

“It is hoped that he will be able to carry out his new responsibilities, ” he said.

Hishammuddin’s appointment came following Ahmad Zahid’s announcement of a ceasefire between Umno and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
