Covid-19: Employers urged to allow staff from red zones to work from home

PUTRAJAYA: Employers should allow their staff from red zones to work from home, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said this should be done to limit the movement of people from red zones to other areas.

“This is one way we can stop the Covid-19 infection.

"I hope that employers can consider this, particularly if their staff lives in areas that have been classified as red zones, ” he said on Thursday (Oct 15).

Ismail also reported that the task force to check on compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) detained 390 individuals on Wednesday (Oct 14).

Of this, 380 were slapped with compound while another four were remanded.

The task force also carried out 43,240 checks nationwide, including on places of worship, government offices, banks, restaurants and hawkers.

“The task force will continue to check on compliance and will take action against premises owners as well as the public who do not comply with the SOP, ” said Ismail Sabri.

The Ops Benteng exercise also saw the arrest of 23 illegal immigrants and three human traffickers.
