MIRI: Another fishing boat tragedy happened on Friday (Sept 18) in the stormy seas off Sarawak - the third such incident in two days.
At about 10am Friday, a boat capsized off the coast of Pantai Alit in Kabong district, about 300km north of Kuching.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, in its latest updates, said the body of a dead person was found a short while ago.
The body was found floating at the river mouth near a village called Kampung Alit.
"We received information about the incident at about 10am from the Saratok Police Station.
"Our search and rescue teams are at the site now.
"Two others in the boat have been found alive and rescued.
"They have been sent to the Kabong Clinic," the department said.
The identities of the deceased and the survivors are yet to be ascertained.
The search teams are still in the process of gathering information on how many were in the boat, and how the incident happened.
This incident at Pantai Alit is the third boat tragedy in the coastal waters of southern and northern Sarawak since Wednesday (Sept 16).
Five male fishermen were found alive and rescued off the coast of Tanjung Po near the Bako National Park, after their boat capsized on Wednesday.
Two men are still missing off Kuala Serupai in Tatau district in northern Sarawak in a separate boat tragedy on Thursday (Sept 17).
The search and rescue operation is still on in the seas off Tatau, about 300km south of Miri.
Many parts of Sarawak have been battered by bad weather for the past few days.
