DAP sacks member for contesting under LDP

Chong Chieng Jen

PETALING JAYA: DAP has sacked one of its members who is standing as an LDP candidate in the Sabah election.

According to DAP disciplinary committee chairman Chong Chieng Jen, the membership of Julius Favianus had been terminated with immediate effect after he stood as an LDP candidate for the Bingkor seat.

Favianus was a Liawan DAP branch member.

“The party and its coalition, the Warisan Plus, have decided that Bingkor is to be contested by a DAP candidate using the Warisan banner.

“For any party member, standing as a candidate against the agreement reached by the Warisan Plus coalition partners is considered an act of insubordination and indiscipline, ” he said.

“Such a move is also an act of betrayal to the people’s wish to retain the Warisan Plus government, ” he added.

“DAP will not tolerate such betrayal, which warrants the immediate termination of his party membership, ” Chong in a statement yesterday.
