BEIJING: Some 100 Malaysians got together at the Malaysian Embassy here to share the Merdeka joy as the country celebrated its 63rd National Day.

They were treated to a variety of home delicacies including curry noodles, satay and an assortment of nyonya desserts.

Ambassador Raja Datuk Nushirwan Zainal Abidin welcomed the guests, and thanked Malaysian companies and individuals in China, who had contributed to assist in the fight against Covid-19.

He said some RM1.71mil was raised for Malaysia.

He acknowledged that successes did not come without challenges.

"Despite the difficulties and vicissitudes that the world including Malaysia is facing, I am optimistic that the future continues to hold much promise.

"Without a doubt, we are seeing shoots of improvement emerging," he added.

Nushirwan said Malaysians had shown their bravery and maturity in facing the situation as the country strived hard to battle Covid-19.

While savouring the food, the guests enjoyed a special performance by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Petronas Philharmonic Orchestra in conjunction with the National Day celebration.

The music recording was played simultaneously at all foreign missions overseas.
