KUALA LUMPUR: The driver of a car which had been driven in the motorcycle lane along the Federal Highway has surrendered to the police.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said the man came to the traffic police station in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Aug 22).
"We are investigating the matter further," he said when contacted Saturday.
It was reported that police were looking for the driver after he had driven at the motorcycle lane on Thursday.
The driver, who had driven against the flow of traffic had also caused a motorcyclist to swerve out of the way and subsequently hit a pillar at the side of the road during the incident at about 4pm Thursday.
ACP Zulkefly had said that even after the accident, video footage showed the Vios driver continuing to drive against the flow of traffic.
"We are currently tracing the driver of QMN 5338. The car is registered to a driver who is based in Sarawak," he had said.
ACP Zulkefly had also urged the driver to turn himself in at JSPT as soon as possible.
"Those with information can also contact Sjn Shamsul Kamal or Asst Supt Khairul Naim at 03-2071 9999," he added.
